The National Biosafety management Agency on Wednesday described as untrue claims that there were genetically modified rice in the Nigerian market. It said that those making insinuations that the country has been flooded with ‘poisonous’ rice were mischief makers Director general NBMA, DR Rufus Ebegba made the clarification during a press briefing in Abuja.

The federal Government has said that Nigerians spends $6m on importation of rice daily the news Agency of Nigeria reported. While addressing farmers of Ndeagu-echara and omege-echara in ikwo local Government area of Ebonyi on Friday, the minister of agriculture and rural development, Chief Audu Ogben, he said that the fund to sustain such importation are no longer obtainable he said this through his senior Adviser on international

The Governor of sokoto state, aminu Tambuwal, has urged aggrieved groups across Nigeria to adopt dialogue to resolve their differences.

Mr. Tambuwal said he believes “in the unity of the country and the unity of Nigeria is non-negotiable”

“Dialogue is  also the most potent tool to resolve all problem's, anywhere and at anytime,” he said.

“There are really challenges in Nigeria, and it is not peculiar to the nation, and these challenges are surmountable.”
