NO POISONOUS RICE IN NIGERIA SAYS FG

The National Biosafety management Agency on Wednesday described as untrue claims that there were genetically modified rice in the Nigerian market. It said that those making insinuations that the country has been flooded with ‘poisonous’ rice were mischief makers Director general NBMA, DR Rufus Ebegba made the clarification during a press briefing in Abuja.
The federal Government was mindful of Nigeria's safety and as such would not open its borders to what had not been properly released and accepted in other countries, saying that the attention  of the NBMA has been drawn to a certain online post that a firm and government of Nigeria have flooded the Nigeria market with the AM rice purported to be poisonous, this falsehood definitely is the product of writers imagination using a pseudo name. this post should be disregarded and we all should join hand in ensuring the Nigerians.

•THE BAN ON RICE IMPORTATION HAS NOT BEEN LIFTFD.
