nteresting out of Lil Kesh’s debut album YAGI an abbreviation of “Young and Getting It” (I hope you get it). This song is is a little deviation from the typical explicit lyrics from lil kesh although there are a few encrypted references. Anyways that’s okay.
So this song is a somewhat reminisce of lil kesh’s humble beginnings, cleverly mixed with his new found success. The lyrics really portray a sense of thanks and appreciation of God’s favour. Semilore, a Yoruba word, means to grant favour. One very interesting line, is where he remembers the old belt he wore to shows then. It was torn, tattered and stitched. Now he wears brand new Versace, Gucci and Givenchy belts! Well he’s 21 so belts matter.
This song is produced by young john, someone who’s earned a lot of respect, my respect. The tune is quite danceable with heavy off timed hihats and straight kicks. It also infuses some talking drums cleanly blended in and flutes. The progression is a 4-5-6 and 4-5-1 turnaround. Kind of something you’lld hear in a gospel song.
I hope he does a video soon.
